Brady and I were both born and raised in Southern California, and our parents still live about 15 to 20 minutes from Disneyland. For Rowan’s very first Disney trip, we decided to do something different and stay within walking distance of the park instead of crashing with family. We booked a night at Grand Legacy at the Park, and in Rowan’s words, it was the “best hotel ever.”
Why We Loved Grand Legacy at the Park
The location alone is a huge win. The hotel sits directly across the street from Disneyland’s entrance gates.
We actually timed our walk to the park, including the time we waited at a crosswalk. It took four minutes and twenty seconds. That alone sold me.
Here’s why staying this close made such a difference:
- You already walk so much at Disneyland. Saving your energy before and after the park is huge.
- It’s easy to pop back to the hotel if someone needs a break, a nap, or a real meal.
- Every room has a refrigerator and microwave, which I always appreciate. Having cold drinks and easy snacks on hand is a game changer.
- Since this trip felt more like a staycation for us, it was nice to skip the traffic, parking structure, and long trek into the park. No driving on the 5. No trams. No extra walking.
Brady and I used to have Disneyland passes before we moved away, and the parking routine was always exhausting. Trust me on this. Staying at Grand Legacy makes the whole experience easier on your feet.
Brady even filmed our walk to Disneyland that morning. Rowan didn’t totally understand what the day had in store, but after about an hour in the park, the magic definitely clicked.
From our third-floor tower room, we could also see Disney California Adventure, which felt pretty special.

Amenities We Loved
A few standouts that made our stay extra comfortable:
- Free WiFi
- Comfortable beds
- Refrigerator and microwave
- Full-length mirror
- Crib available by request
One detail I really appreciated was the daily snack bag provided for guests. Each morning, you can grab a bag with a bottle of water, crackers, an apple, and a granola bar. It was perfect, especially since I completely forgot to pack snacks for our Disney day.
There’s also a pool area with a splash zone that looks great for kids. Since we visited in November, we skipped swimming, but it would be a great way to unwind after a long park day during warmer months.
The Real Review: Rowan Approved
Honestly, Rowan probably would have loved any hotel. But at Grand Legacy at the Park, he was obsessed with standing at the window watching the cars and people below. Any time he wasn’t sleeping, he was posted up at the glass, taking it all in.

Extra Perks Worth Mentioning
The hotel also has a rooftop restaurant and bar with views of Disneyland, including fireworks. We didn’t make it up there during this stay, but Brady and I visited previously with my parents and loved it. The views are incredible.
Just a heads-up: the rooftop restaurant is 21+ after 10 PM and closed on Mondays.
If you want to see more from our trip, I saved our Instagram Stories from those two days and uploaded them to YouTube.
