I am not much of a planner, especially when it comes to holidays. But I always try to find something festive and fun for Rowan and me to do together. Halloween is only a couple of days away, and this treat could not be easier. It takes one quick trip to the store, a microwave, and some silicone baking mats or parchment paper.
These last-minute Halloween Rice Crispy treats are perfect if you need something fast, kid-friendly, and cute.

Easy Halloween Rice Crispy Treats
We made super easy chocolate-dipped, store-bought Rice Crispy treats. Rowan decorated them with candy eyes to turn them into little Halloween monsters. I chose Rice Crispy treats because they are big and easy for kids to hold and decorate.
You could totally do this same idea with marshmallows, Oreos, pretzels, or anything else that sounds good dipped in chocolate. I saw this idea on Pinterest years ago, way before I had Rowan, and it always stuck with me.
What You’ll Need
You can grab these at the store or pull from your pantry if you keep random baking supplies on hand.
- Rice Crispy Treats (store-bought or homemade if you are about that life)
- Melting chocolates (I bought colored melts, but white chocolate works too)
- Candy eyes and sprinkles
- Silicone baking mats or parchment paper
- Cake pop sticks (optional)
Step 1: Unwrap the Rice Crispy Treats
This is not the most eco-friendly project. I know. Sometimes you just do what you gotta do.
Step 2: Prep Your Work Area
Lay out your silicone baking mat or parchment paper on the counter so the treats have somewhere to dry.
Step 3: Melt the Chocolate
I do not own a double boiler, so we used the microwave. I melted about one cup of chocolate melts with one tablespoon of coconut oil. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, then microwave for another 30 seconds. Keep repeating until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
Step 4: Dip the Treats
Dip each Rice Crispy treat into the melted chocolate. You can dip once for a thinner layer or a few times if you want them extra chocolatey.

Step 5: Add the Eyes
This was Rowan’s favorite part. He loves decorating, so I let him go wild placing the candy eyes and sprinkles wherever he wanted. The more uneven and silly, the better.
Step 6: Let Them Dry
Let the chocolate set completely. Or don’t. No judgment here.
Once they dried, I added cake pop sticks to the bottom and wrapped them in little treat bags. We gave them out to Rowan’s friends at the park on Halloween. I did let him eat one since he worked very hard making his monsters.
